Several times since the beginning of this blog I have made it clearly apparent that I feel it is very important to confront psuedo-leftist (or in the case of primitivism, so-called “post-leftist”) reactionary political philosophies that mask themselves as revolutionary within the broader radical movement, like, in this case, the current primitivist, anarcho-primitivist and general anti-civilizationist trends.
When it comes to pseudo-leftist fascists such as national anarchists, National Bolsheviks, third-positionists etc., those of us on the left have no problem calling them out for what they really are, fascists who mask their deeply reactionary ideology in radical sounding rhetoric. However, it has been my experience that most of the organized left, both socialist and anarchist, seem to steer clear of things like primitivism and the works of its primary spokesmen, such as John Zerzan and Derrick Jensen as they find it to be absurd. I must admit that I am not without sympathy for this position, but in not confronting it we are creating a situation where many young, and energetic people, especially from the eco/green movement, who are looking for radical, if not revolutionary, solutions to current global issues are being enthralled and mislead by life-stylist philosophers preaching reactionary and psuedo-mystic doctrines.
It it with that that I have compiled this critical reader in the primitivist, anarcho-primitivist and general anti-civilizationist trends.
