Harpal Brar on Cuba and Korea

Harpal Brar, Chairman of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist) speaks at the international BBQ held in Saklatvala Hall, Southall, on 30 July 2011.

The event celebrated the 58th anniversary both of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s victory in the fatherland liberation war (25 June 1950 — 27 July 1953), which marked the first defeat of US imperialism, and of the storming of the Moncada barracks, by Cuban revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro, on 26 July 1953. The latter signaled the start of the Cuban revolution and gave its name to the Cuban revolutionary guerilla movement (26th of July Movement [Spanish: Movimiento 26 de Julio; M-26-7]).

Brar outlines the achievements of these two revolutions, emphasizing the importance of proletarian internationalism as the key ingredient to successful anti-imperialist struggle. He also updates us on the current situation in these countries.
