Israeli Apartheid Week 2012: Call It What It Is

A promo video for this year’s 8th annual Israeli Apartheid Week events. While I’ve always disputed the idea that we have “beaten” apartheid before that this video pushes (since the situation in Azania has only changed cosmetically since the rise to power of Mandela and the ANC), I’ve always valued IAW greatly and took part in it three years running once it was taken up by activists in Kitchener-Waterloo. This year I will be not be able to participate, but I am wishing all my comrades in Canada and around the world the best of luck.

  1. thanks for posting this. It’s a well-produced video and makes some strong points. but i agree with your point about azania — a similar comparison could be made for the situation of black people the US. “jim crow” laws are gone, but that has not changed the conditions for african people in this country.

imagine what a powerful video it would be if the message were, “COLONIALISM — CALL IT WHAT IT IS.”
