KKK Carved on Blind Lakota Elder in Rapid City Hospital

Blind, 68-year-old Lakota elder named Vern Traversie had the letters “KKK” carved into his torso while he was in hospital recovering from serious surgery – open heart surgery – at Rapid City Regional Hospital. He was there on a refferal from the Indian Health Service. After 7 months of looking for and waiting for justice, the Cheyenne River Sioux Nation tribal member elder has made the decision to go public with an appeal for justice.

I don’t expect this to be on National News anytime soon. There seems to be a hands-off rule about reporting news from Indian Country. This act is shameful, anti-Christian, anti-humane, disgusting, and highly disturbing. Prayers for Vern.
