More White Fear of an Indigenous Uprising in Kanada

Recently The Speed of Dreams decided to post an article that had first appeared on the personal website of Greg Renouf, a somewhat infamous former participant in the #Occupy Movement in Kanada. I made the decision to re-post Renouf’s article because I felt it was demonstrative of the paranoid fear that many North Americans have about the regrowth of the independent movements of colonized peoples on this occupied continent – in fact I had likened Renouf’s article to one I also recently re-posted from The Blaze about a meeting between the NBPP, NOI and the Iranian President in NYC).

As I had suspected it would, as Renouf is a follower of this site, it caught his attention. Now TSoD has had the honour of being targeted in his most recent article, Indigenous Racism And The June 21st Uprising… . Much to my own humour (as I no longer reside in Canada, or even on the North American continent, and as such also no longer have many links to activists there) Renouf seems to be set on drawing from this site and the comments made on it myself and others both that I am a “racist” as well as further “evidence” of the treasonous Indian uprising that he is so paranoid will happen in 17 days on Aboriginal Day.

The former is because of articles I have posted such as Howard Zinn’s left-wing White patriotism and White Working Class: Gross Parasitism which dare to give a historical materialist critique of the Golden Calf of settler leftism – the White working class. He also draws this from comments I have made that are critical of self-serving White “solidarity” activists like Alex Hundert (a man who Renouf and I converge on in our dislike) and their organizations. The later comes from comments made by geiheiscollectivewordsoundvisionpower in the comments thread of the posting of the previously mentioned article by Renouf.

In keeping with why I posted his previous article, as well as the one from The Blaze, I have below chosen to re-post Renouf’s most recent article attacking TSoD for what it demonstrates.

Finally, as a side note, I do find it somewhat humourous that Renouf described his article being re-posted here as a “(dis)honour” as I only came across his site in the first place (despite having heard of him before) when he chose to re-post my article The Speed of Dreams @ The Range and the trackback ended up in my comments approval stack. So I guess he did me the (dis)honour first. It is also comically convenient that the posting of that article seems to have disappeared from his site. This appears to have happened after I attempted to leave a comment on it telling him his description of my brother and I as “Marxists” was incorrect and that he could scale back on his fear of a Native uprising a bit, or at least one that we would be involved in, because neither of us any longer live in Canada.

Indigenous Racism And The June 21st Uprising…

Last week I had the (dis)honour of having one of my articles republished by one of the most radical & racistwebsites I’ve run across. It warmed my heart to see how they labelled me as ‘a somewhat infamous White participant in the #Occupy Movement in Kanada’. That said, they should have done their research, I quit the Occupy movement a couple of months ago- tired of the focus on political correctness over making change…

The racists [Bloggers Note: Notice the plural here – last time I checked, while I do refer to myself in my role as editor in the 3rd person sometimes, this site was run by myself only, thus it seems that Renouf who accused me of needing to do more research on him needs to do a bit more research himself] who run this site publish a number of hateful articles about subjects like Howard Zinn’s left-wing White patriotism, and White Working Class Gross Parasitism. Well, it seems they have thrown some of that racism towards me- how nice!

The comments that have come to this article are very enlightening, and they seem to confirm what I’ve beenwriting about the possibility of a native uprising on June 21st. This is unfortunate, because it would most certainly be suicide for Canada’s indigenous communities to attempt armed insurrections in Canadian cities. The last thing I’d want to see is people getting hurt.

This first comment displays a bit of a racist tinge- that said, it isn’t as bad as what comes after. More important, it confirms who the players are. I’ve written about some of these groups before- the George Soros fundedIndigenous Environmental Network  who have made a lovely video predicting the uprising this year, the infamous American Indian Movement, and fauxhawk Jayson Fleury’s  Native Youth Movement who are famous for their video saying “take back the land, kill the white man”.

The other organizations are on my list to research now. After a quick peek around, I can say that the Anishinabek Confederacy to Invoke Our Nationhood look rather concerning. Have a look at this image I found on their page:

These people are seriously confused. Why can’t they see that the vast majority of Canadians feel great regret for what happened to indigenous people? It also confounds me how they spend so little time discussing how they are being used by their own leaders…

Bloggers Note: Note Renouf’s use of a version of my comment which has now been corrected for a typo which muddled my meaning

As you can see from these next couple of comments, it appears to be an insult to be accused of being a white liberal in these circles. I can understand the part about liberals- I’ve read enough Chris Hedges to understand the weaknesses of the liberal class. But, judging people by their race/colour is so 1950′s! But, also, it gives carte blanche to those who are racist against people of colour.

This is totally irresponsible behaviour…

I’ve left the best part of their comments for last- it is probably the most important part of the story, because it confirms the rumours that something big is being planned for June 21st! Have a look:

The writer, Michelle Festus, is a feminist activist from South Africa, and plans to be coming all the way to Toronto to ‘support some actions’ on the 21st. Not only does this confirm that something big is being planned, but also shows us that people are coming from other countries to join in the racist mayhem! You can learn more about Michelle’s politics going to her website click here.

This last comment has really piqued my curiosity. I don’t know what she means by “ACTION’s stand in Ontario”. If any of my readers know what this is, please let me know.

So, as June 21st nears, I’ll continue my research- and will be sure to share my findings with you dear readers. This could be a very interesting summer…

  1. This morning, in preparing for my visit to Klanada, I decided to read some news of what is happening in Toronto. The first story I read was of a Black male youth being shot and killed at the Eaton Centre, a mall in downtown Toronto. As I read further I saw that there was another Black male who was also shot, but not killed. The reports are saying that shooting was a gang related assassination. I read further and saw that homicide victims in Toronto are largely Black males who are killed by other Black males. I found myself reflecting when I was a young Black male in Toronto, living in forced exile from my home in Africa. I remembered the amount of self hate in Black people that Klanadain settler society fosters. I remembered the amount of anger and frustration I felt and how it made me do very unconscious things that I am now frankly ashamed to have to one day tell my six month old daughter about. But I also remember how my consciousness was raised by the indigenous brothers and sisters I met in Klanada and how it helped to decolonize my mind and sharpened my resolve to free my people in Azania from the white supremacist, patriarchal, capitalist, hetrosexist, culture that attempts chokes the life out every one on this planet. Thus in my road to consciousness I owe the indigenous people of Turtle Island a great debt and any acts of solidarity in the struggle for decolonization is really only a small repayment. I just wish I could do more.

Clearly this blogger has read TOO MUCH Chris Hedges.

  4. you and renouf deserve each other–a pair of irrelevant goofs. have fun.

  5. Irrelevant or relevant, I could care less – I’m not a rich white boy playing at revolution who wants to be famous like so many others, past and present. I don’t care about protest popularity contests. This site always has been and always will be a personal project to share radical news, views and sometimes my own ramblings. However perhaps you should talk to Omali Yeshitela, Chairperson of the African Socialist International and leader of the Uhuru Movement (the largest African revolutionary organization on the planet) and ask what he thinks of it. Maybe you should also ask the members of the American Indian Movement Grand Governing Council, the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, Ignite Collective, Socialist Voice, Deep Green Resistance – Ontario, Fifth Estate, Upping the Anti, BASICS, Barrio Nuevo, Revolutionary Communist Party – Canada, Proletarian Revolutionary Action Committee, Revolutionary Students Movement, Democracy & Class Struggle, Anishinabek Confederacy to Invoke Our Nationhood, International League of People’s Struggle, Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) of Panama, Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist-Maoist) of Bolivia, Feu de Prairie of France, Liberation Irlande (France), the Scottish Republican Socialist Movement, People of Color Organize!,, the Revolutionary Students Union of Utah, or the Organization of Red Guards in Poland.
